The student will learn about surface, mechanical and structural properties of polymer nanocomposites. The work includes hardness testing, scratch resistance, friction and wear, surface energy evaluation, tensile testing, instrumented impact testing, DSC, light and electron microscopy techniques
The student will use Magnetron sputtering and PECVD methods to deposit multilayer nanostructured coatings. The work includes investigating tribological properties, such as scratch resistance, nanohardness, friction and wear, and light and electron microscopy techniques
The student will use Plasma nitriding, Magnetron sputtering and PECVD methods to deposit gradient, multilayer, duplex and nanostructured coatings. The work includes investigating tribological and mechanical properties, metallography and selected electron microscopy techniques such as FESEM, TEM, EBSD, EDX
